Product construction & artwork

Use these details to prepare your brief. Materials, construction and production specifications are confirmed for the individual project.

Rigid box materials

A wrapped rigid box typically uses a board structure covered with printed or decorative paper. The board, wrap, lining and adhesive system work together to determine the finished appearance and fit. Choose these around the product dimensions and presentation requirements. Confirm reference material specifications for each order rather than assuming the photographed construction suits every product.

Magnetic closure construction

For a magnetic flap or lid, magnet positions and panel alignment must be considered alongside the board and wrapping layers. Check that the approved sample opens and closes comfortably with the product and insert in place. The closure alone does not establish a protective shipping performance rating.

Custom inserts

An insert can locate products, separate components and define their presentation. Share the actual items or dimensioned drawings, including caps, pumps and accessories. Discuss a paper-based or other appropriate insert construction and confirm material availability, cutouts and retention on a sample. Do not assume a particular insert material or cushioning level is included.

Product fit and protection

Specify usable internal space and the orientation of each item, then check clearance for loading, removal and lid closure. Consider movement, sharp edges, fragile surfaces and contact between products. Fit and presentation should be evaluated with representative contents; transport protection may require an outer carton and a separately agreed test plan.

Surface finishing

Select the wrapping paper and finish for the intended handling and visual effect. Printed color, foil, matte or gloss surfaces and other decoration should be evaluated on the actual stock. Agree the treatment of edges, corners and large printed areas. A screen rendering cannot confirm feel, abrasion resistance or color consistency.

Artwork requirements

Use the approved dielines for the outer wrap, lining and any printed insert. Confirm which panels are visible when the box is closed and opened, and keep essential text away from wrapped edges, cutouts and seams. Provide separately identified foil or special-finish artwork and approve panel orientation, bleed and safe areas before production.

Packaging and shipping considerations

An assembled rigid box normally occupies its formed volume in the shipping carton. Confirm carton dimensions, units per carton, gross weight and how the surface and closure will be protected. For parcel delivery, assess the product, insert and outer shipping package together. Freight, delivery responsibilities and any required transit testing should be specified in the quotation.
