Product construction & artwork

Use these details to prepare your brief. Materials, construction and production specifications are confirmed for the individual project.

Collapsible box construction

A collapsible rigid box combines rigid panels with foldable connections so it can be supplied in a flatter format and formed into a box before use. The panel arrangement, corners and fixing method depend on the design. Confirm whether the finished construction is intended for one-time assembly or repeated folding; repeated use should not be assumed from the word collapsible.

Assembly process

Request an assembly sample or instructions for the approved design. Check the order of folding, alignment of the corners and how any adhesive or fixing areas are engaged. Trial the assembly with the intended packing team and product. Once permanent adhesive is engaged, some designs are no longer intended to be folded flat again.

Magnetic closure

A magnetic closure brings the lid and front panel together, but closure performance depends on magnet placement, wrapping thickness and panel alignment. Confirm the closure on a finished sample with the intended contents. A magnetic lid is a presentation closure; it should not be treated as a shipping seal or evidence of parcel protection.

Board thickness

Board thickness influences stiffness, panel weight, fold geometry and the space taken up by the construction. Thicker board does not automatically produce a better fit. Confirm the board and wrapping paper together with internal dimensions, clearances and closure alignment. Any thickness shown elsewhere on this page remains a reference specification to verify for the new order.

Shipping volume considerations

Flat supply can reduce the space occupied by unassembled boxes, but the actual freight comparison needs the packed carton dimensions, carton quantity, gross weight and destination. Allow for assembly labor, inserts and any separate protective packaging. Compare the confirmed packing plan with an assembled-box alternative; no fixed saving or lower delivered cost is guaranteed.

Custom printing and finishes

Discuss the outside and inside artwork, wrapping paper and required decoration. Foil, lamination, embossing or other requested finishes must be assessed against panel edges, folds and assembly areas. Check the approved sample for alignment across panels and for the effect of decoration on the folding construction.

Artwork and dieline requirements

Obtain a production dieline for the confirmed box size and construction before placing artwork. Identify front, back, lid and internal panels, keeping text clear of folds and fixing areas. Supply separate artwork for foil or other special processes. Confirm bleed, safe areas and panel orientation in the proof; reference photographs are not a substitute for an approved dieline.
